On Episode 2 of Casey's Carpool Parenting, Laura Schneider, LMHC and Rachel Doerflinger discuss ADHD and the Educational System.
For those who don't know, ADHD is defined as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and "is one of the most common mental disorders affecting children. Symptoms of ADHD include inattention (not being able to keep focus), hyperactivity (excess movement that is not fitting to the setting) and impulsivity (hasty acts that occur in the moment without thought)" (American Psychiatric Association).
ADHD displays in many different ways, but the three main types of ADHD are (1) Inattentive, (2) Hyperactive/Impulsive, or (3) a combination of both.
Laura talks about how she has seen ADHD affect children academically and socially in a linear-thinking world.
